Pennsbury Special Education Director Resigns
Pennsbury Special Education Director Regina Rausch was placed on administrative leave last month. Pennsbury School District's Special Education Director, Mary Rausch, has resigned effective June 6. The district's Schools Superintendent, Thomas A. Smith, stated that Raush had made significant improvements in the Special Education Department during her tenure. Charles Lambert, who has almost 40 years of experience in the position, will serve as interim Director of Special Education. In mid-May, Rausche was placed on administrative leave without a reason, but was not removed from the school grounds or escorted from the building.

In an email obtained by Patch Tuesday, Schools Superintendent Thomas A. Smith provides colleagues with an update regarding the district's special education program. Smith said Rausch has resigned from the Pennsbury School District, effective June 6.
"During her time in Pennsbury, Ms. Rausch worked to make substantive improvements in the Special Education Department and we appreciate her efforts," Smith said. Smith said that Charles Lambert will serve as the interim Director of Special Education. He brings almost 40 years of experience to the position.
In mid-May, Rausch was placed on administrative leave. A reason was not provided by the district. Jennifer Neill, the district's spokeswoman, said then that Rausch was not removed from the school grounds nor escorted from the building.
Rausch was hired by the school district in 2020. She had served as assistant director of student services in the Abington School District in Montgomery County.
Rausch also has worked for the Bucks County Intermediate Unit and was a special education teacher and a behavior specialist in Pennsbury from 2000 to 2011. "We are committed to finding the best candidate possible to lead our Special Education program and Dr. Lambert will be with us until this process is complete. I will provide updates once the search process begins," Smith said.
