With Jalen Hurts recovering from blood clots, Eagles must try and find path to playoffs without him
PHILADELPHIA -- Jalen Hurts has been around the Eagles' facility and could still be a resource for new No. 1 quarterback Tanner McKee or any other teammate who wants to talk to him. J Jalen Hurts, the Eagles' starting quarterback, is expected to miss the rest of the season due to blood clots and is on injured reserve due to deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli. His treatment involves blood thinners and he will not be allowed to participate in any football activities until he is off them. This leaves the Eagles facing a tough road to the playoffs without Hurts. The team has lost four consecutive games for the first time since 2020 and is in one of the NFL's worst divisions. The NFL welcomed an investigation into the Eagles for their handling of Hurts' blood clotted issue, following the players' union's request for one. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said that offensive coordinator Sean Mannion was still the play-caller and that everything is on the table to fix the offense.
