The Philadelphia Police Department is seeking information regarding a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 44-year-old Black male pedestrian. The incident occurred late on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, around 11:54 p.m. on the 1800 block of East Torresdale Avenue, within the jurisdiction of the 24th District.

The vehicle, believed to be a 2016-2020 silver or white Mitsubishi Outlander, reportedly fled the scene after striking the victim who was attempting to cross the street, the impact caused the vehicle to flee north on the 4000 block of Torresdale Avenue at a reportedly high speed after the collision and is now expected to show damage to the undercarriage and the left front wheel well liner. Following the incident, medics from the Philadelphia Fire Department transported the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 12:24 a.m., as per Philadelphia Police Department.

Authorities are calling on the public's assistance and urge anyone with information to come forward, explicit details regarding the incident and the description of the suspect vehicle have been released to solicit help from witnesses or others with knowledge of the event. The ongoing investigation is conducted by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division.
